Hello
Well, having said that I wouldn't be keeping one, I have started writing a blog today.
Here you can read about teacher phili's adventure in The People's Republic Of China.
It begins here, on Tuesday 1st September 2009, at Terminal 3, Heathrow Airport.
This blog will be sensitively written considering the nature of the administration of the country where I will be travelling to. It may, indeed by blocked as part of general censorship. At no point, additionally, will I intend to or attempt to risk my visit in a country in which I will be working for the next 10 months.
How could I possibly not write my thoughts, especially after this morning's drop off. Dad performed his final duty, to drive me to Sculthorpe, via the Bank to pick up my foreign currency. On the way from Fakenham we passed a police car. It duly followed us, having spotted there was no seatbelt strapped across Dad's bright yellow T-shirt. Subsequently we were pulled over at our destination - a rendezvous at mum's house. His first 60 pound fine for not wearing a belt and a jokey conversation in which I told the police to put him in the cells and his insistance that he would drive off without the belt being attached, risking another immediate fine. I did chuckle.
So, not quite the 'rainbow' send off that we had when I headed to South Korea.
After that, it was a stress free soujourn down the A11; A505; A1; M25; Heathrow. I drove Mum's car for the last time (for now) and she dropped me at the airport with hours to spare.
Now I wait. I feel incredibly calm this time. It is different this time. Those of you that know me know why that is. I have regained full confidence after the summer stint in Cambridge and am really looking forward to this new challenge (or 'challenges').
Love
TP
